Curriculum

I am super excited about starting this school year.  This will be the first year with all four children at home so when the decision was made to homeschool all four kids the next question was 'What curriculum do we use?' BIG question isn't it?  Every homeschool family I have every spoken with has explained their process to choosing the right curriculum.  For us, we prayed and then looked at where God was leading us.  My oldest son has expressed a desire to be the president of the USA since he was 3 years old and has always been interested in politics and US history.  My farmgirl loves animals especially pigs and is very outdoorsy and she loves to read.  My fairy is so easy going and loves to learn about far off places.  My superhero, well, he is a boy and is 4 years old, anything icky, gooey, dirty, yuck works great for him.  My husband has a heart for the Muslim people and I have always loved missions work. So when I started researching curriculum I kept all this in mind.

Fast forward to the Chattanooga Homeschool  Curriculum Fair.  I went to a seminar about combining Charlotte Mason, Classical Education, and unit studies.  My eyes were opened and wow! My Father's World was exactly what I was looking for.  So our core curriculum is MFW Exploring Countries and Cultures

At that same convention I fell in love with Math-U-See.  When I brought that demo dvd home and we watched it for the first time, both my husband and I looked at each other in amazement.  I wish I had had Math-U-See when I was young!

So here's the list:
Sailaway Handwriting
Primary Language Lessons
Writing Strands
The Complete Book of Animals
Properties of Ecosystems
